Freetown Christiania

It began in 1971 when a group of people occupied an abandoned military base in the Christianshavn neighborhood of Copenhagen. The neighborhood with its own rules includes approximately 1000 people and occupies 2 sides of a canal.  

While biking on the east side of the canal, my fender decided it was done and pushed off the washer and nut. While we attempted to squeeze our fingers between the underneath of the fender and the tire, we were unsuccessful. Luck would have it that an old sailor was making deliveries in his van and offered to help us.  After admiring his work as it looked like art, we were off to continue our adventure.

                  

                  

                  

                  

It was quite interesting to see that also in this Freetown, walking and biking are the travel modes of choice.
