Traditional Danish Celebrations

There is a time in June when you will see a huge number of teenagers wearing unique caps.  The Danish tradition awards each graduate a special hat "studenterhue" which is placed on their head after their last high school exam right on the spot. The streets are full of large graduation trucks "studenterkorsel" decorated for each specific class (roughly 25 students).  The students are packed in these trucks dancing to loud music where they stop at each student's home greeted by family and possibly neighbors and friends.  The students get off of the truck where they eat, drink alcohol, sing songs, and laugh before they move on to the next student's home.

Another celebration that occurs in June (specifically June 23rd) is the Danish Midsummer celebration called Sankthansaften. People gather together for private celebrations, or at large public festivals. These get-togethers usually take place near a body of water where a huge heap of wood is lit in the evening.

There also happen to be fireworks the next night as I could see from my window.
